She-Hulk: Attorney at Law He has exceeded fan expectations at every turn, making some surprisingly hilarious and honest additions to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This included a truly epic and surprising cameo in the show’s third episode, with rapper and pop culture icon Megan Thee Stallion appearing as herself, in a storyline where a new shape-shifting Asgardi light elf catches a glimpse of someone like her. By the end of the episode, the real Meghan has emerged and even hired Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk (Tatiana Maslany) as her attorney. Then the pair flipped together, a moment that really broke the internet in so many ways.
In a recent interview with Variety, the cast and crew of She-Hulk revealed how Meghan’s cameo came to be, with lead writer Jessica Gao revealing that they originally had a weeks-long discussion about which celebrity should appear in the story.
“There was a large and varied list of different people that was constantly changing,” Zhao explained. “And the type of celebrity ebb and flow too, depending on what kind of jokes we wanted to make.”
The proposal to cast Meghan actually came from actress Titania Jamil, who worked alongside Meghan on HBO Max’s Legendary.
“[Megan] Director Kat Cuero revealed that she really fits in the whole spirit of what we’re doing with the show. “She’s really a strong, larger-than-life character, and we love the idea that She-Hulk is looking forward to her.”
“I was probably too close to crying from excitement,” Maslany says of how she felt when Gao handed her the news. “I really like her.”
“It wasn’t like she was just a fan because she was about to meet [Megan]Zhao explained. fan admirer.”
When it comes to the dance scene itself, Maslany described the experience as “the highlight of my life.”
“It was the highlight of my life,” Maslany revealed. “When Jess was like, ‘We write you a scene where you’re dancing with her,’ I basically died. Like, I fell off the planet. I focused on that moment for two weeks, and I couldn’t talk to her. I didn’t know how to be around her.”
“We all found out that Tatiana is not only a huge fan of Megan, but an amazing dancer and departure,” Cuero explained. “She might be a CGI character, but that’s all Tatiana is all about at that moment.”
“We really let them dance,” Cuero continued. “We played the song, and put some cameras on it. I had to keep telling the camera operators to get off. They were very respectful. And I said, ‘You guys should point the camera down.'” “
“Once the song plays, you just have to go. I’ve been preparing for that my whole life. It’s been amazing.”
